Newfound Resources Limited was founded in 1986 by 25 Newfoundland seafood companies to harvest and deliver large quantities of groundfish for the benefit of Newfoundland factories.
Following the demise of the Canadian ground fish stocks, NRL received an offshore shrimp license in 1991 and transformed into one of Canada’s largest shrimp companies.
The company’s flagship vessel, “Newfound Pioneer,” harvests 8000 metric tons of coldwater shrimp annually and the company procures additional product from third parties, as well as vessels managed through a subsidiary company.
On February 4th, 2017 NRL welcomed the Newfoundland Victor to its fleet. This brand new, state of the art vessel was built according to class notation CLEAN, covering requirements for design and equipment which reduce the environmental impact from emissions to air, discharges to sea, and deliveries to shore from vessels. The Newfoundland Victor is Canada’s first “green” fishing vessel.
